Part of the Jamaica Worldwide reggae artist series: trending artists.
Who He Is
Skippa, born Tahjay Clarke in St Ann, went to Munro College in St Elizabeth, where he captained the under-16 football team and picked up the nickname that became his stage name. He now lives in Brooklyn, New York, and started his music career in late 2023.
The Rise
His breakthrough came with “WYFL” on DJ Mac and CrashDummy’s WYFL riddim, a song that has passed 5.8 million official US on-demand streams and drawn remixes from Buju Banton, Vybz Kartel, Remy Ma and Patrice Roberts. In 2025 he was Jamaica’s third most-viewed artiste on YouTube, behind only Chronic Law and Vybz Kartel. In September 2026 Billboard named him its Caribbean Rising Star at its Power Players event in New York, and his seven-track EP #Skippaholic has passed 6.1 million streams.
Why He’s Trending
“Money Walk”, his track with DJ Mac and CrashDummy, is at number four on Apple Music’s Jamaica top songs chart for 5 November, and he has three more songs in the top 15: “Glocks and Chips” at 10, “Go” at 11 and “Detox” at 15. “Money Walk” was also the highest new entry on Caribbean E-Magazine’s October chart, finishing the month at number three.
