Trondheim Sound System: Lambsbread Sound

Part of the Jamaica Worldwide artist series: reggae in Norway.

Who They Are

Lambsbread Sound is a reggae sound system and DJ collective from Trondheim, founded in 2008 by a group of local DJs with a deep love of reggae and dancehall. Its leading figure is Anders Kjevik, who plays as Dalton Fury, alongside selectors such as Rollminister.

The Story So Far

Lambsbread Sound has run its own radio programme since 2010, and since 2013 it has staged a summer festival at Kafé Skuret on the Trondheim waterfront, described by NRK and Adresseavisen as Norway’s only reggae festival. The festival has brought artists from Jamaica and Denmark, including the roots singer Michael Prophet, to an intimate crowd of about 200 people a night. In 2018 the crew celebrated ten years with a big club night at Byscenen featuring UK star Mr. Williamz and Admiral P’s Jah Ark Manifest, and the same year they played Pstereo festival.

The Sound

Expect reggae in classic rub-a-dub style, dubplates, dancehall and tropical club sounds. Their mixtapes, including the Trondheim Massive Mixtape with local artists, and recordings of sound clashes with Norwegian crews like Jah Ark Manifest are on SoundCloud.

Why They Matter

Lambsbread Sound has made Trondheim a real stop on the Nordic reggae map. By building a festival, a radio show and a loyal dance floor, they show how Jamaican sound system culture can take root far from Kingston and bring Jamaicans, Norwegians and visitors from across Scandinavia together.

Upcoming Nights

No upcoming dates are listed online right now. Dalton Fury has played regular rub-a-dub nights at Rosendal Kafé in eastern Trondheim, so check the Rosendal Teater programme.
